Coronavirus Update

Governor Baker has ordered for all non-essential businesses to cease in-person operations as of 12PM, March 23, 2020. He also issued a stay at home advisory for MA residents. Both will remain in effect until April 7. As readers may already be aware, in an effort to do our part to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, Main Street Formals voluntarily closed on March 16, with intentions of honoring our existing commitments through private appointments and fittings performed by the owner personally. However, Governor Baker’s mandate precludes our ability to offer that service at present.

Consequently, our entire operation is limited to 1) answering your inquiries remotely, while 2) our tailoring staff manufactures free facemasks for medical staff. In the meantime, it seems likely that most/all social events planned in the near future will be canceled, and so for the foreseeable future, Main Street Formals will follow the following policies:

RENTAL ORDERS: We will issue 100% refunds on all rental orders canceled as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Please contact us by email as soon as possible if your event has been postponed to a later date.

RETAIL ORDERS: If you ordered any retail clothing and wish to postpone your order for a later date, please contact us by email as soon as possible.  If you are canceling a retail order, we may issue a refund on your deposit, but that decision will be made at our discretion on a case-by-case determination. If the garment has already been tailored, there will be no refund, as the garment is permanently custom-tailored to you and cannot be resold.

ALTERATIONS: If we have some of your clothing, we regret we can no longer make private arrangements to get it to you, for such an action would stand in contravention to the governor’s order. We’ll keep your items safe until everything is back to normal.

These policies are subject to revision as the situation evolves. Please continue to visit this page or our social media feeds for more information as it becomes available.

Temporary Coronavirus Closure

TEMPORARY CLOSURE: March 16 – March 30

Direct all inquiries by e-mail to: info@mainstreetformals.com

Main Street Formals owners Robert and Kathleen Brunelle have made the tremendously difficult decision to suspend operations for two weeks to protect our staff and customers. After several days of experimentation with our business model, we concluded it was impossible to deliver our highly personalized service while simultaneously keeping our staff safe by practicing recommended social distancing measures.

As this situation evolves, so, too, may our policies, procedures, and reopening date. This is uncharted territory, so please be safe, and follow our social media feeds for updates.

How might this affect our customers?

RENTALS: If you have a rental scheduled over the next two weeks, your event is almost surely canceled, per the Governor’s order to cancel all gatherings of 25 or more. Please accept our condolences on what is surely an epic disappointment. We hope you will reschedule, but if you do not, your deposit will be 100% refunded. If your event is NOT canceled, please e-mail us, and Robert will come in personally by appointment to accommodate you/your group. Note: Robert will respectfully refuse to admit into the store anyone showing any sign of illness (cough, sneeze, runny nose, etc). Plan wisely, for there will be no refunds on anyone who cancels his order AFTER picking up.

RETAIL ITEMS & TAILORING: If you have a retail item here (or a garment you dropped off for tailoring) and you wish to pick it up, please e-mail us, at which point we will call for payment over the phone and we will make arrangements to be at the store. When you arrive, we will bring the item outside to your vehicle. If you have suits on order for a wedding, we will postpone fittings and tailoring on them and hold them for you until you reschedule.

EMERGENCIES: If you have a clothing “emergency,” please reach out by e-mail, and we will help however we can.
