Temporary Coronavirus Closure

TEMPORARY CLOSURE: March 16 – March 30

Direct all inquiries by e-mail to: info@mainstreetformals.com

Main Street Formals owners Robert and Kathleen Brunelle have made the tremendously difficult decision to suspend operations for two weeks to protect our staff and customers. After several days of experimentation with our business model, we concluded it was impossible to deliver our highly personalized service while simultaneously keeping our staff safe by practicing recommended social distancing measures.

As this situation evolves, so, too, may our policies, procedures, and reopening date. This is uncharted territory, so please be safe, and follow our social media feeds for updates.

How might this affect our customers?

RENTALS: If you have a rental scheduled over the next two weeks, your event is almost surely canceled, per the Governor’s order to cancel all gatherings of 25 or more. Please accept our condolences on what is surely an epic disappointment. We hope you will reschedule, but if you do not, your deposit will be 100% refunded. If your event is NOT canceled, please e-mail us, and Robert will come in personally by appointment to accommodate you/your group. Note: Robert will respectfully refuse to admit into the store anyone showing any sign of illness (cough, sneeze, runny nose, etc). Plan wisely, for there will be no refunds on anyone who cancels his order AFTER picking up.

RETAIL ITEMS & TAILORING: If you have a retail item here (or a garment you dropped off for tailoring) and you wish to pick it up, please e-mail us, at which point we will call for payment over the phone and we will make arrangements to be at the store. When you arrive, we will bring the item outside to your vehicle. If you have suits on order for a wedding, we will postpone fittings and tailoring on them and hold them for you until you reschedule.

EMERGENCIES: If you have a clothing “emergency,” please reach out by e-mail, and we will help however we can.

2020 Wedding trends

In the Navy

The ballots are in, and fashion experts agree that navy blue is one wedding menswear trend that’s here to stay. Ably accessorized with contrasting vests and pattered ties for a vintage, rustic look, or with somber solids for a chic, classic presentation, navy gives modern brides the versatility to work with any wedding theme.

Slim is IN

It’s hard to feel your best when you don’t look the part. Now more than ever, grooms understand that tailored clothing is designed to be worn close to the body, and today’s slim- and modern-fit styles will achieve the flattering silhouette you desire. Main Street Formals offers an astonishing array of retail and rental slim-fit options, plus on-site precision tailoring.

TWO Suits?!

The “reception look” is a trend that brides have been doing for quite some time. After the ceremony, the bride slips away to put on a second (often less traditional) dress. When she arrives at the reception, she wows her guests again with a brand new, stunning look! This trend is a lot of fun, as it allows brides to get dolled up twice in one day and give their guests a big surprise. Grooms want in on that action, too! A second suit is a particularly great choice if you are planning to have a very traditional ceremony. Your groom can transform from “classy to sassy” by wearing his classic black tux for the vows, and then donning something provocative and fun for dinner and dancing! This makes the wedding just a little more memorable (and you get to see him looking sharp in two Instagrammable outfits!).

Pop Some Champagne…and Some Color

Hunting for hunter green suits? We have them!

Many grooms stick to the classic suit color palette for formal occasions: black, grey, navy, and maybe khaki in the summer. But in the past few years, menswear has seen a dramatic shift toward the colorful and creative. Does your man want to stand out from the rest of his groomsmen? Give him a suit in a bold, brilliant color, and he’ll certainly be the star of the show! (Of course, it is important to remember that your groom’s suit should still coordinate with your wedding color scheme.)

French Blue and you

Indigo suitsDid you hear the news? Our new French Blue rental suits by David Major Select are arriving this week! Originally scheduled to hit the showroom in April, these super-snazzy slim-fit rental suits will be arriving earlier than expected, so if you want to discover if this new and exploding color trend is right for you, feel free to come in and try one on. We will be carrying size 2 to size 60, so whatever the dimensions of the men in your group, we will have you covered!

Several details distinguish this line from others we’ve seen in the industry, so we jumped on board enthusiastically. For starters, it’s the only indigo-hued rental suit on the market. Two other options exist in this color family (the Allure Brunswick and the Ike Behar Greenwich) and we can get both, but those are suit/tuxedo hybrids with framed lapels. So, until now, if you wanted a classic suit, you had retail options exclusively, which isn’t appealing to everyone, particularly those groups on a tight budget. However, this new program solves that challenge, so if you want to save your group some money (as well as the logistical inconveniences of retail), you can now rent this suit, which we’re seeing attractively paired with hues like blush, petal, platinum and wine. Also, we’re seeing a small but significant trend where couples are pairing indigo with brightly colored floral neckties.

Indigo rental suitsSecondly–and this might sound trivial, but it’s not–the pants have belt loops. Over and over again, we see grooms get excited about pairing their cognac shoes with a matching belt (yes, men are paying attention to details like that!), but they couldn’t wear belts because the manufacturers didn’t attach belt loops. Problem solved.

Lastly, we were excited to buy into this program because it’s an exclusive line for members of the elite Select Independent Formalwear Association, and we are a proud member of this international group of men’s formalwear specialists. In other words, you can’t find this style at the Big Box Shop.

These are arriving any day, so if you’re interested in taking a look, just give us a call beforehand to see if the shipment has arrived!
